Motorola Presents Upcoming “Desktop Mode” at Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit, May 2021

Those of you who have used Samsung Dex will be able to familiarize themselves with Motorola’s new solution which works the same. The feature is not official but was presented at the Snapdragon Tech Summit. In the video, a Motorola handset was plugged into a monitor, giving the user a desktop style user interface. In the video, Sergio Bunac, president of Motorola Mobility, said that “2021 will mark the 10th generation of Moto Gs, and nothing will make us prouder than bringing 800 series experiences to this family.”

Not much is known about how this feature works, but in the video we saw this feature called Desktop Mode . He was shown while talking about multitasking and working on videos, illustrations and documents on a big screen seamlessly. We’ll likely see this in future Motorola flagships with the Snapdragon 888 series processor. It may also be supported for some current generation Moto handsets.

Motorola fans will recall that he introduced this concept long before Samsung Dex came into the picture. It all started with the Motorola Atrix 4G, which connected to Motorola’s LapDock accessory to offer a laptop like user interface. But it could be way ahead of its time. However, with more eyes on laptops and smartphones, the demand for such functionality is more than before.
